Recorder letters: Youngsters we can all be proud of

How proud I was on Saturday, May 11 to watch two organisations from Havering take part in the WGI United Kingdom & Indoor Music Games Essex show at the Basildon Sporting Village.
The Haverettes All Girls Marching Band, to which I used to belong, gave a terrific performance considering low numbers. They had stiff competition from around the UK together with a visiting Indonesian band, Gema Nadaqu Percussion. They gave an extremely smart and pleasurable performance in their stunning uniforms.

Elm Park Remembrance: Veterans, schoolchildren and the Bishop of Barking take part in parade

Veterans, schoolchildren, members of the British Legion, councillors and the Bishop of Barking all took part in the Elm Park Remembrance parade.
The Haverettes Marching Band played music as part of the parade, and at the service in St Nicholas Church, children from Elm Park Primary sang John McCrae’s poem in Flanders Fields.

Visitors celebrate St George's Day this weekend with fun festivities in Romford Market

Hundreds of patriotic residents flocked to Romford Market at the weekend to celebrate St George's Day.
It was a busy day on Saturday, April 21, with fun activities and events taking place to entertain families, shoppers and passers-by.
Those who attended were treated to a host of entertainment from the British Legion and Haverettes marching bands, to giant Beefeaters and Punch and Judy shows.

Anzac day commemorated on the Dovers Farm Estate green

Residents gathered on the Dovers Farm Estate green of Sunday, May 27. Anzac day honours the military contributions of Australia and New Zealand’s armed forces. Standard bearers from the Royal British Legion and a bugler from the Haverettes All Girls Marching Band helped conduct the remembrance alongside master of ceremony, Councillor Graham Williamson.

Remembrance Day 2017: Veterans and schoolchildren commemorate modern and past soldiers at Elm Park service

From veterans to Brownies and college students, well-wishers from all walks of life gathered in Elm Park this morning to honour soldiers of the past and present. The event was a real community effort, from the music performed by the Haverettes All Girls Marching Band and the release of balloons filled with poppy seeds by children, to the role of Barking and Dagenham College students in closing off the parade route to traffic.
